End of Year Reflection | Mwezi Blu

This year encouraged us to take a step back, listen more intently, and rely on the subtle strength of craftsmanship. Balancing experimentation with patience, and ambition with humility, 2025 turned into a year of discovering the true essence of building thoughtfully and purposefully, focusing on people, one step at a time.

This reflection is not just a recap of milestones, but a record of growth, resilience, and the stories that shaped Mwezi Blu.

As we close the chapter on another remarkable year, we want to begin by saying thank you. To our community, customers, collaborators, and friends, your belief in Mwezi Blu has shaped every step of this journey. Whether you wore our jewellery, commissioned a bespoke piece, shared our story, or simply followed along, you have been part of our year.

This Year at Mwezi Blu

This year was defined by growth, experimentation, and bold milestones.

We began the year by deepening our exploration of sand casting, developing two signature collections inspired by our landscape and heritage: Luangwa River Sand and Dzuba. These collections allowed us to push our technical skills while staying rooted in place and story.

As the months unfolded, we welcomed more bespoke commissions, particularly in gold, marking an important evolution in our craftsmanship. In March, our first Emerald Bar Necklace left the workshop and travelled all the way to the USA, a proud moment for our small but determined team.

April was both creative and purposeful. We donated USD 910 worth of medical equipment to our local Kakumbi Clinic, crafted our first set of white gold wedding bands, and expanded our brass collection with new designs.

In May, Mwezi Blu reached its second anniversary, a milestone we marked by starting to sponsor 14 children through school thanks to your purchases. Between May and June, we created one of our most remarkable pieces to date: 18k yellow gold earrings adorned with diamonds and over 5 carats of Zambian emeralds.

July saw the team quietly working behind the scenes, busy bees preparing something very special. On 1st August, we proudly opened our second store in Lusaka, in collaboration with Life Trust Empowerment. To mark the occasion, we launched the Mwezi Blu x Empowerment Jewellery Travel Pouch.

September brought national recognition, with features in Nkwazi Magazine and Travel & Leisure. We also welcomed Dave, our in-house gem cutter, strengthening our commitment to skill, precision, and local expertise.

In October, we began sourcing Zambian gold from as far as a five-hour drive away, processing and mixing our own alloys, another step toward deeper sustainability and independence. That same month, Life Trust Empowerment took us to Zimbabwe Fashion Week.

November was marked by the launch of our Umodzi Unisex Bracelet Collection, crafted from Zambian Sterling Silver. We also donated our first Riviera Necklace, featuring 14 gemstones, to the Italy Meets Jamaica Auction. The event also caught the attention of Vogue, and we were thrilled to see a pair of our earrings worn by an influential figure, highlighting the talent of our jewellers and the beauty of Zambia’s finest carftsmanship and creativity.

December closed the year in true festive spirit, completing bespoke Christmas orders and attending Christmas fairs in Lusaka, surrounded by celebration and gratitude.

The Stories Behind the Pieces

Behind every Mwezi Blu piece is a story of experimentation, patience, and people. This year reminded us that design is not linear. It involves trying, failing, listening, and refining.

Our greatest inspiration continues to come from our customers, their stories, milestones, and trust. By listening closely, we have been able to develop designs and collections that truly connect, not just visually, but emotionally.

Lessons Along the Way

Running a jewellery brand in Zambia, especially from a remote place, has taught us invaluable lessons. Everything takes more planning than expected. Then more planning again. And patience, always patience.

The biggest lesson this year? Preparation is everything, but flexibility is just as important. Each challenge has sharpened our resilience and deepened our respect for the craft and the journey.

Our Community

Community remains at the heart of Mwezi Blu. From participating in auctions to sponsoring children’s education and launching collections that support mental health, we are committed to giving back and staying connected to our people.

We believe jewellery should carry meaning beyond adornment, it should reflect care, responsibility, and shared humanity.

As we step into the new year, our vision remains intentional and grounded.

We are looking forward to expanding our gold collections, introducing new designs that continue to honour Zambian materials and craftsmanship. We plan to create more immersive experiences and classes, inviting our guests deeper into the world of jewellery-making, where learning, touch, and story come together.

Growth, for us, is not about speed. It is about refinement, depth, and staying true to why we began. The year ahead is about becoming better, not just bigger.

Thank you for being part of our year. We cannot wait to share what comes next.
